Release Notes December 22, 2020

In This Release…

Coding Tab Updates

Beginning on January 1, 2021, the Coding tab will display new E/M code documentation methods for New Patient and Established Patient outpatient office visits.

These changes align with the American Medical Association’s new coding guidelines, which allow providers to select a code level based on medical decision making or total time on the day of the encounter. The new coding options will be available in the following encounter types:

  • Exam
  • Multi-System
  • OB Follow Up Visit
  • OB Initial Visit
  • OB Postpartum Visit
  • Reconciliation
  • Urgent Care
Note

These changes are also visible on encounters created in December that are future-dated for January 1, 2021 or later

Legacy Feature Phase Out

The Teaching Clinic checkbox has been removed from Clinic Settings: General. This feature corresponded to specific clinic setup options that have been made available in the product.

Transition of Care Checkbox Enhancement

Beginning on January 1, 2021, the Encounter Related to Transition of Care into Clinic checkbox will display on the HPI tab instead of on the Coding tab. This enhancement streamlines documentation by associating the checkbox with the Referral Source field.

Also beginning on January 1, 2021, the Encounter Related to Transition of Care into Clinic checkbox will be removed from the Telephone encounter type.

Note

These changes are also visible on encounters created in December that are future-dated for January 1, 2021 or later
