2023 MIPS Promoting Interoperability Measures
For the 2023 performance year, ECs Eligible Clinician: a Medicare provider who qualifies for MIPS participation must submit data for a single set of measures in order to earn a score greater than zero for the MIPS Promoting Interoperability (PI) category. ECs may also choose to attest to one bonus measure to add extra points to their MIPS PI score.
ECs are required to use an EHR that meets the 2015 Edition Cures Update certification criteria for participation in this category.
Workflows have been developed to assist Sevocity users with the 2023 MIPS Promoting Interoperability measures. Although there may be other methods capable of meeting the measures, only the recommended workflows are approved to meet the measure requirements.
These workflows are designed as a supplemental resource and are not a substitute for the program eligibility and requirements provided by CMS. For full program requirements, refer to CMS’s Quality Payment Program website.
As part of the 2023 Performance Year attestation process, ECs must:
- Submit a Yes to the Actions to Limit or Restrict Compatibility or Interoperability of CEHRT Attestation
- Submit a Yes to the ONC Direct Review Attestation
- Submit a Yes to the Security Risk Analysis Measure
- Submit a Yes to the Safety Assurance Factors for EHR Resilience (SAFER) Guides Measure (a "no" will also satisfy this measure)
These attestations are required in addition to the submission of report data for the MIPS PI measure set.
Performance Period: Date range selected in the current calendar year for which the 2023 MIPS Promoting Interoperability Report will be queried
Patient Seen/Seen: A patient having one or more of the following encounters that is finalized by an Eligible Clinician: Multi-System, Exam, Procedure, Initial OB Visit, OB Follow Up Visit, Postpartum Visit, or Urgent Care
ECs may attest to one of the following measures as an alternative to attesting to the Support Electronic Referral Loops by Sending Health Information and the Support Electronic Referral Loops by Receiving and Reconciling Health Information measures:
Health Information Exchange (HIE) Bi-Directional Exchange
Enabling Exchange Under the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA)
