Objective 2: Electronic Prescribing (eRx)
Objective: Generate and transmit permissible prescriptions electronically
Measure: More than 60 percent of all permissible prescriptions written by the EP Eligible Professional: a Medicaid provider who qualifies for the Medicaid Promoting Interoperability Program are queried for a drug formulary and transmitted electronically using CEHRT Certified EHR Technology, an EHR that conforms to the ONC's Health IT Certification Program criteria and standards. | |
Denominator | Number of prescriptions written for drugs requiring a prescription in order to be dispensed other than controlled substances during the EHR reporting period; or number of prescriptions written for drugs requiring a prescription in order to be dispensed during the EHR reporting period. |
Numerator | The number of prescriptions in the denominator generated, queried for a drug formulary, and transmitted electronically using CEHRT. |

An EP may take an exclusion if any of the following apply:

To be included in the denominator:
- Patient must have a prescription for a drug created in Rcopia during the reporting period
OR
- Patient must have a prescription for a controlled substance created in Rcopia during the reporting period
To create a prescription in Rcopia, go to Encounter > Medications > Manage/ Prescribe Meds > Prescribe a Medication
To be included in the numerator:
- Prescription created in Rcopia must be queried for a drug formulary during the reporting period
AND
- Prescription created in Rcopia must be sent electronically by the EP or authorized Provider Agent on behalf of the EP during the reporting period
AND
- Encounter in which prescription was sent must be finalized by the EP
Prescriptions created in Rcopia are automatically queried for a drug formulary
