Query of Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)

Measure: For at least one Schedule II opioid prescribed using CEHRTClosed Certified EHR Technology, an EHR that conforms to the ONC's Health IT Certification Program criteria and standards during the performance period, the MIPS ECClosed Eligible Clinician: a Medicare provider who qualifies for MIPS participation uses data from CEHRT to conduct a query of a PDMP for prescription drug history, except where prohibited and in accordance with applicable law.
Reporting To meet this measure, the MIPS eligible clinician must attest YES to conducting a query of a PDMP for at least one Schedule II opioid electronically prescribed using CEHRT. This is a bonus measure worth 5 points.

ECs interested in signing up for PDMP access should contact Sevocity Support to begin the registration process. Fees apply for PDMP access, and PDMP access may vary by state.

  • Query of the PDMP for prescription drug history must be conducted prior to the electronic transmission of the Schedule II opioid prescription.
  • MIPS eligible clinicians have the flexibility to query the PDMP using data from CEHRT in any manner allowed under their State law.
  • Includes all permissible prescriptions and dispensing of Schedule II opioids regardless of the amount prescribed during an encounter.
